KALIKOT, Aug 28: Four children from Palata in the district have died of mysterious disease.

The victims were Sabita Budha (14), Shanti BK (2), Keshpura BK and Sarita BK (1 each), said a local Man Bahadur Budha.

According to Budha, 90 persons-mostly children- have been suffering from the disease now.

The disease that broke out for more than a month, has exhibited the symptoms as fever, coughing, headache and swollen body.

The people have complained that there was no medicine in a local health post of Khin Neta.

After the disease stalked village, local Kalika Lower Secondary School has been closed.

The village is nearly two days trek away from the district headquarters.

Chief at the District Hospital, Dhirjung Sahi, said the information was relayed very late. However, a health workers´ team with medicine was sent to the affected area last Saturday.
