UDAY LAMA

Some insight into avoiding stand-offs

Stop-gap measures are usually taken before the final go ahead for any work. These take the form of a committee whose members are charged with holding meetings, drawing up a rough draft of the scenario in question and sending out feelers before arriving at a decision.

The committee investigates where there is a blockage and where things have to be worked out beforehand. This is important as it can review the impasse and come up with tried and tested solutions. More so in the light of what has gone on before in fulfilling the needs of the target group. The committee can be made up of appointees whose views, opinions and suggestions are considered and made public in due course.

While drawing up a plan could be an effective time management tool, such a draft can also save scarce resources and allow for adoption of proper measures. Keeping in mind the current work-in-progress it calls for a down-to-earth, simple and practical usage of available resources.

Sending out feelers maybe useful in wooing a third party. They could be involved from the beginning. The presence of a new face motivates the group to come up with accurate appraisals and float new ideas. However, the committee members must be familiar with the scheme’s nuts and bolts and meet its criteria.

A stop-gap measure thus brings to the fore time fixtures, distribution of funds and work completion date. The feedback received can only be effective in absence of mixed signals. It calls for a proactive period and delivery of the goods up to a benchmark. Any execution to this end is brought about through intermediaries.

An insight into a high-level measure means avoiding stand-off. It acts as a deterrent and brings good cheer and gusto and a willingness to work together. Thus nothing comes in the way of programs that have been thought of before. Nothing can go amiss as it is backed by past experiences and a logical conclusion.

Whilst bringing up the question of an interval stands in good stead as no extra effort is required. So that planning can go ahead with full steam to release build-up pressures, thus completing anything that has been decided upon. This makes it possible to conform without sacrificing one’s interests and allow for differences.

A stop-gap measure falls into place without giving us any reason to doubt its validity. There is a seamless motion that is worthy of the trouble taken. In its wake, good times follow without a setback on the work at hand. A harbinger of sorts because of the existing order and the inculcated values, and one applicable without besmirching someone’s reputation. So much so that the only requirements for a stop-gap measure calls into question its effectiveness.

What does matter in this context is calling the shots and making use of the powers invested—as far as the rule of law is concerned and an approach that is holistic
