Samsung to introduce 12 models of washing machines

REPUBLICA

KATHAMNDU, Sep 9: Samsung is introducing 12 new models of washing machines in the domestic market by the end of this week, targeting the upcoming festive season. Of these models, one will be semi-automatic, while the rest will be automatic.

The semi-automatic Samsung washing machine, with 6.2-kg capacity, will be available for Rs 19,990. Of the automatic models, seven will be top loading, while the remaining will be front loading. Top loading washing machines will cost between Rs 24,990 and Rs 30,990, while front loading machines will be available in price range of Rs 48,000 to Rs 71,990.

"These machines can save up to 40 percent energy and 35 percent water, compared to other washing machines available in the market," said Binay Tripathi, deputy general manager of Him Electronics -- the authorized distributors of Samsung home appliances in Nepal.
These machines also start automatically when power supply resumes and stop when washings are completed. Apart from this, these machines comes with eco bubble technology and diamond drum.

"Eco bubble technology generates bubbles by dissolving detergent with air and water before the normal cycle beings. This helps the detergent to reach deep into fabric and wash 40 times faster than other machines," said Tripathi. Similarly, diamond drum protects the fabric from getting damaged.
Officials of Him Electronics are hopeful about the new range of washing machines attracting an array of customers, as each of them is targeted toward different customer group.

"We hope the upcoming festive season will also give a boost to business," Tripathi said, referring to Nepali tradition of purchasing new goods during Dashain -- the biggest festival in Nepal.

Him Electronics is introducing 12 different models of washing machines at a time when demand for this home appliance is increasing in the domestic market. "People of the urban area are now becoming career-oriented and hence do not have time to complete all household chores manually. That´s why they continue to look for convenience, which these machines provide," Tripathi said.

Him Electronics is planning to sell around 2,500 units from these 12 models by the end of the festive season.
