KATHMANDU, Sept. 10: The National Free Employees Council at the Nepal Water Supply Corporation (NWSC) locked its central office and branches for two hours today.
The Council, which has launched agitation saying the employees could not get salaries from June/July, among others, as the General Manager could not be appointed in the Corporation since long, locked the head office and its branches from 10:00 am.
According to Chairman of the Council and General Secretary of the Democratic Trade Union Federation, Bhimsen Pokhrel, they have been compelled to launch agitation after employees could not get salaries and added they will lock the office regularly.
He also demanded immediate appointment of the GM saying employees could not get salaries as the GM could not be appointed so far as the management of the Corporation did politics on essentials like drinking water.
The Council said it will lock the offices for two hours on September 11, and 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on September 12 and added it will padlock the offices indefinitely from September 13 if their demands were not addressed.
Pokhrel further said they will continue the agitation until the appointment of the GM and there was easy environment for working.
