BHAKTAPUR, Sept. 16: The Korea-Nepal Friendship Hospital, Madhyapur Thimi, has successfully completed a joint transplant, a rare case in medical science in the country, for the first time in Bhaktapur district.

A team led by senior orthopedist Abhay Yadav accomplished the surgery of 32-year-old Krishna Kunwar of Panauti on Sunday, according to the hospital´s director Bhimsen Thapa.

Talking to journalists after the successful completion of the surgery, Dr Yadav claimed that this treatment is considered a rare case in the country and was the first of its kind in Bhaktapur district.

Dr Yadav said that the health condition of Kunwar is normal after three-hour-long surgery.

Kunwar´s family source said that he was suffering from the disease for the past seven years and was unable even to walk for a month.
