  Maternity hospital reopens surgical ward

KATHMANDU, Sept. 19: Thapathali-based Paropakar Maternity Hospital on Wednesday has resumed the operation of surgical ward, which has been remained closed for the past four days.

The hospital administration had announced the closure of its surgical ward for four days from Friday evening after women, who underwent surgery, complained of recurrence of vomiting, nausea, headache and fever.

´Surgical service has come into operation from today after completing all the preparations required to this effect´, said Hospital Director Dr Sheela Burma.

As many as 200 female patients visit the hospital every day. Among them, 80 women give birth to children everyday and at least 25 women undergo surgery.

It is noted that some eight women, who underwent surgery in the maternity Hospital, were sent to other hospitals in the Valley after its shut down its service.
