  Opposition student wings to take to streets

KATHMANDU, Sept. 19: Students´ organizations associated to opposition political parties have demanded the government to withdraw price hike in petroleum products saying that subsidy in LP gas and kerosene announced to students was just a ploy.

After holding a joint meeting on Wednesday, leaders of the Nepal Student´s Union, All Nepal National Free Students´ Union (ANNSFU), All Nepal National Independent Students´ Union-Revolutionary of CPN-Maoist, and other student unions said that the government decision to give subsidy to students was not acceptable to them.

Earlier, the government had decided to give subsidy of Rs 250 on a LP gas cylinder and Rs 10 in per litre in kerosene.

The meeting of opposition parties´ student wings also decided to announce fresh protest programme to the government apathy to address the exorbitant fee charged by the Council of Technical Education and Vocational Training affiliated colleges.

The meeting also demanded to scrap the decision of the Tribhuvan University to increase educational fees
