KATHMANDU, Sept 22: “Voices of Hope,” the first solo photography exhibition of Sumeet Shakya, founder of The Image Park, is slated to take place at the Canon Imaging School, Maitri Bhawan.
The exhibition focuses on the lives of 24 underprivileged children living at Mitrata Nepal. Mitrata Nepal is a non-governmental organization established in 2000 and based in Nepal.
Through 18 photographs, Shakya depicts the daily lives of these children who have called Mitrata Nepal their home.
“I spent around three weeks for this exhibition. I visited Mitrata Nepal frequently, engaged with the children to get to know them better,” shares Shakya.
“I’ve been involved in supporting other photographers put up their exhibitions and have exhibited my photographs as part of other collaborative projects but I hadn’t had the opportunity to hold a solo exhibition until now,” adds Shakya.
The exhibition which was also a part of the Japanese Cultural Exchange Program organized by Mitrata Nepal on September 21 at the Patan Museum, will be open to the public from September 23 to October 7 at the Canon Imaging School.
