KATHMANDU, Sept 25: Sentu Shrestha of Nobel Academy clinched gold in the U-12 boys´ singles of the Sixth Purnaman Memorial Open Table Tennis Tournament on Tuesday.
Shrestha defeated Ritij Joshi of AVM 6-11, 14-12, 11-7, 11-6 in the final played at the National Table Tennis Training Center, Lainchaur.
In the U-14 boys´ singles, Deelip Gurung of AVM struggled past Tendi Sherpa of Bijeshwari 8-11, 8-11, 11-3, 11-6, 11-9 to take the title.
Similarly, Purnima Shakya of Jagat Sundar School defeated her schoolmate Sarina Maharjan 2-11, 16-14, 11-4, 11-9 in the final of junior girls´ singles.
Sameer Khan of Holy Garden won gold in the cadet boys´ singles. Khan defeated Aryan Acharya of Malpi 11-6, 11-7, 11-5 in the final.
In the junior boys´ singles, Ghanashyam Sharma defeated Rajesh Lama 11-8, 11-6, 11-8 in the final, while Dipen Dangol beat Shrijan Kawe 13-11, 11-9, 11-7 in the final of senior boys´ singles.
Surendra Awale won the veterans´ singles title defeating Ananda Dhakhwa while Naresh Rawal of Nepal Television claimed gold in the media section. Rawal defeated his colleague Madan Acharya in the final.
