Unsuccessful combatants to get chance to join lower levels of NA

REPUBLICA ONLINE

KATHMANDU, Oct 4: A meeting of the Special Committee for Supervision, Rehabilitation and Integration of former Maoist combatants has decided that the former combatants who failed the performance test for officer’s level will be allowed a chance for contesting at lower levels in the Nepal Army (NA).

Altogether 71 former combatants had passed and four failed the test for recruitment in the NA as officers.

“Those who failed in the test will be allowed to contest for various non-officers’ posts such as Subedar Major, Warrant Officer First Class and Warrant Officer Second Class if they want,” UCPN (Maoist) leader Nanda Kishor Pun informed after the meeting.

During the meeting representatives from opposition parties, Nepali Congress and CPN-UML demanded a discussion on alleged corruption at the PLA cantonments.
