  SPORTS BRIEFS: Apple Academy lifts title

KATHMANDU, Oct 5: Apple Academy on Friday lifted the title of the Third Girls´ Six-A-Side Football Championship organized by Brihaspati Vidhyasadan. Apple defeated Arunodaya 2-0 in the final held at the host´s ground in Naxal with both goals coming from Amrita Rai. Earlier in the semifinals, Apple had defeated St Xaviers´ 1-0 while Arunodaya had beaten the host Brihaspati 3-0 to advance into the final.

Anisha Gurung of Brihaspati became the top scorer of the tournament with five goals while Pramila Tamang of Apple was adjudged the best player.

Kamalnetra wins title

KATHMANDU
: Kamalnetra Chunamuna defeated Texas International School 5-2 in the final of the ANkur Cup Seven-A-Side Football Tournament on Friday to clinch the title. Arpan Lama of Kamalnetra was adjudged the man-of-the-match in the final match. Lama´s teammate Sunil Tamang bagged the best player award while Samay Pokharel of Ankur School top scored in the tournament.

Bodybuilding c´ship next week

KATHMANDU
: The preparations for the Fourth Mr Himalayan Bodybuilding Championship has been completed, the organizers said on Friday. A press release issued by Nepal Bodybuilding and Fitness Association states that the two-day event will be held in Dharan on October 12 and 13. The tournament will feature competitions in seven weight categories. The winner in each category will receive Rs 10,000 while the second and third place finishers will get Rs 5,000 and Rs 2,000 respectively. This tournament is the qualifier for the Ninth South Asian Bodybuilding Championship to be held in Punjab, India from November 2-4. It is also the selection round for the Fourth World Bodybuilding Championship to be held in Bangkok, Thailand from December 4-10 later this year.
