  Laxman Tharu's party expels him

REPUBLICA

KATHMANDU, Oct 5: The Tharuhat Tarai Party Nepal (TTPN) on Friday expelled its chairman Laxman Tharu from the party after his unilateral announcement to merge with Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar´s Madheshi People´s Rights Forum-Democratic (MPRF-D).

The office bearers´ meeting of the party decided to relieve him of his responsibilities on the charge of engaging in activities against the welfare, interest, statute and manifesto of the party, according to a press statement issued by the office bearers.

Tharu on Thursday had formally announced merger of his party with MPRF-D amidst a function attended by some leaders in Dang. TTPN was formed in August last year.

According to the party´s statement, Tharu was incompetent, dishonest and worked for only his vested and hidden interests from the beginning and his announcement of merger with MPRF-D proved the charges to be true.

The party has also blamed the MPRF-D Chairman and Deputy Prime Minister Gachhadar for tempting Tharu leaders to join his party with the help of power and money in order to expand his party base.

The party has also asked its members to remain focussed and united. It has also appealed to the public to boycott the defecters politically and socially.
