KATHMANDU, Oct 6: Kuwait registered a four-wicket victory against Nepal in the ACC Trophy Elite played at Al Dhaid Cricket Village ground in the United Arab Emirates on Saturday. This is Kuwait’s first every victory against Nepal in ODI format.
Kuwait batsmen rained boundaries against Nepali blowers as three players scored half centuries.
Sibtain Raza smashed 77 off 84 balls with four sixes and six boundaries while Abid Mushtaq chipped in 54 off 31 balls and Kashif Sharif scored 59 off 55 balls. Nepal had to wait till 10.1 to clinch Kuwait’s first wicket as Mushtaq.
Paras Khadka and Shakti Gauchan took two wickets each while Pradip Airee was accounted for one.
Earlier, Skipper Khadka blasted a 73-ball century as Nepal posted a 281-run target against Kuwait after choosing to bat first.
In-form Khadka, who made 106 not out, completed his century in the penultimate over, clobbering seven fours and four sixes. His deputy Gyanendra Malla contributed 53 off 59 balls, while Prithu Baskota made a quickfiire 37 off 18 balls.
Nepali openers gave a solid start to the team as they made 61-run opening stand in 19 overs. Anil Mandal, who made 19 off 42 balls, got out last ball of the 19th over. Suvash Khakurel scored 43 off 82 balls. Pradip Aire made 11 of 13 balls.
Kuwait bowlers Sibtain Raza, Saad Khalid, Kashif Sharif and Hisham Mirza took one wicket each.
Nepal had got its first ever one-day victory over UAE in the first match on Wednesday. As Nepal has always been proving itself superior to Kuwait in One-Day matches, Nepali team expect the continuity of winning streak in the tournament.
Nepal and Kuwait had played five One-Day matches in the past and Nepal had won all of them. Nepal had defeated Kuwait by 124 runs in the ACC Trophy 2002 held in Singapore and by 6 wickets in the 2006 edition of the tournament held in Malaysia.
Likewise, Nepal had thrashed Kuwait by seven wickets in 2008 edition of the tournament and it was Nepal´s eight-wicket victory in the 2010 edition of held in Kuwait. Nepal had pulled a five-wicket victory over Kuwait in 2005 during the ICC World Qualifier Division 2.
