MUMBAI, Oct 8: Varsha Bhosle, daughter of Indian playback singer Asha Bhosle, committed suicide at their Peddar Road residence on Monday.
Varsha shot herself, police said.
Differing media reports put her age at 50 and 56; however she was believed to have been suffering from depression and had been hospitalised a few weeks ago after a suspected overdose of sleeping pills.
Bhosle was a columnist with web portal Rediff, and had worked as a freelancer for The Sunday Observer and The Times Of India.
She was also a theatre personality, sang playback for some Hindi and Marathi films and performed in concerts with her mother.
