Security upped as Janajati activists plan protest against Nepal's visit

KHOTANG, Oct 11: Security has been tightened in Khotang ahead of CPN-UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal´s visit to the district on Thursday.
The indigenous community has been planning to greet the UML leader with black flags upon his arrival.
According to DSP Rajib Basnet of the district police office, Diktel, security at places from the Khanidanda Airport to the district headquarters Diktel has been stepped up to prevent any untoward incidents.
During a program here in the district a day earlier, Ang Kaji Sherpa, general secretary of Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) had instructed cadres to greet the visiting leader with black flags.
Nepal along with half a dozen UML leaders is arriving in the district to inaugurate a newly built party office this afternoon. The visit has been protested by the dissident leaders, who left the party recently.
