  Prem GC claims triple gold in LGBTI sports fest

KATHMANDU, Oct 13: Prem GC claimed three golds in the second day of the First South Asian LGBTI Sports Festival on Saturday. He secured first positions in 800 m, 1,500 m and 3 km fun race held at the Dasharath Stadium.

GC covered the distance of 800 m in 2 minutes 35.10 seconds to claim his first gold. Saurav Jung Thapa of Kathmandu finished the event in second position with a timing of 2:38:22 minutes while Birendra Chaudhary (2:46:81) of Far Western Region finished third.

In the 1,500 m race, GC clocked 5 minutes 28 seconds to finish the race ahead of Navaraj Karki (5:55) of Kathmandu. Ram Chandra Chaudhary of Far West settled for bronze in the event with a timing of 6 minutes and 24 seconds.

Bhagat Chaudhary of the Far West won gold in the long jump event covering a distance of 4.5 m. Sipora Gurung of Kathmandu came second with 4.48 m while Roshan Mahato (4.24 m) of Far West finished third.

In the javelin, Rambaran Yadav of Eastern Region claimed gold with a 34.28 m. throw. Tikaram Tharu (23.55 m) of Mid Western Region and Subash Davi (22.34 m) of Western Region finished second and third respectively.

Meanwhile, Western Region (Arbani) won the title of volleyball match after defeating Far Western Region (Mohini) 25-17, 25-12 in straight sets at the covered hall of the National Sports Council.

In the basketball event, Mid Western Region (Maruni) teamed up with Far Western Region (Mohini) to defeat the joint team of Eastern Region (Brihanlla) and Western Region (Arbani) to clinch gold.
