  57th Police Day marked

KATHMANDU, Oct. 14: The 57th National Police Day was marked organizing various programs across the country today. On the occasion, the Nepal Police honoured best performers and paid tribute to those police personnel who got martyrdom while on duty.

A report from Birgunj states that people from different walks of life having significant contribution in maintaining peace and security, promoting rule of law and controlling crimes and illegal activities were honored amidst a program here today.

´No one is above the law, and police: friend in both joy and sorrow´ was the main theme of the programme. Those feted personalities were Dr Deepak Shakya, industrialist Bishwakaran Jain and Sangita Puri.

Similarly, 17 police personnel were awarded for their satisfactory performance. On the occasion, judge of the District Court, Parsa lauded the role of Nepal Police in maintaining security, establishing rule of law and in development campaign.

Likewise, in Dhangadhi, 12 police personnel from different districts in the far-western region were honoured with the ´Sashakta Police Award´ on the occasion of the Police Day.

Those honoured are Superintendent of Police Ghanashyam Aryal, Deputy Superintendent of Police Dilliram Bista, Police Inspectors Karna Bahadur Bam and Raj Kumar Rawal, Assistant Inspectors Arjun Singh Karki and Jaya Bahadur Singh, Sub Inspectors Daulat Singh Pujara and Karna Bahadur Gharti, police head constables Dabal Bista and Rajendra Kumar, woman police Dhanakumari Saha and policeman Bharat Bahadur Majhi.

Similarly, correspondent to the Kantipur daily in Dhangadhi Mohan Budha Air has been honoured with the ´Seti Mahakali Journalism Award´ being presented by the Nepal Police.

Likewise, the Rapti Zonal Police Office Tulsipur honoured 12 police personnel for their best performance amidst the Police Day celebration here today. Police InspectorThaga Bahadur KC of District Police Office Salyan, Police Inspector Shibaraj Budhathoki of District Police Office Rukum, Assistant Sub Inspector of District Police Office Pramod Chhetri, ASI Bhupalal KC of Rapti Zonal Office Tulsipur, police head constables Laxmi Rudra Rawal, Om Limbu and Omraj Gharti of the same office are among those honoured on the occasion.

Similarly, tributes were paid to martyr police memorial pillar on the premises of the Mid-Regional Police Office, Hetauda, today.
