MYAGDI, Oct 16: One person died and nine others were injured in a road accident at Phusrekhola along the Maldhunga-Beni road section on Tuesday.
Identity of the deceased has not been ascertained yet, according to the Milan Chowk Police Post.
The accident took place when a jeep (Na 1 Ja 2133) heading towards Maldhunga of Parbat from Beni, the headquarters of Myagdi district, fell some 50 feet off the road, said Assistant Police Inspector, Basudev Pandit.
Pandit said a person of around 55 years of age, who told that he was from Dhamja in Baglung district, died while undergoing treatment at the District Hospital, Beni.
Critically injured seven-year-old Sujal Hamal of Mallaj Majhphant, 45-year-old Karma Lama of Darbang-1 and 20-year-old Sandesh Sunar of Dhairing-5 have been sent to Pokhara for further treatment, according to Chief at the District Hospital, Beni, Dr. Jhalak Sharma Gautam.
Similarly, injured Sherab Lama, 25, of Darbang-1, Man Kumar Paija of Kyang in Parbat, Benjima GC, 10, of Dhairing, Ram Kandel, 32, of Kushma, Sharmila Hamal, 17, of Majhphant-2 and Shova KC of Baglung Municipality-6 are undergoing treatment at the District Hospital, Beni.
Police constable at the District Traffic Police Office, Myagdi, Bharat Bhandari, said the accident took place due to negligence of the jeep driver. Police said jeep driver Kiran Pun has been absconding and search for him is underway.
