POKHARA, Oct 17: Nepal Police Club A on Wednesday clinched the title of Third National Men´s Beach Volleyball Tournament defeating arch rival Armed Police Force Club A in the final held in Pokhara.
The pair of Bharat Shah and Chandra Kunwar of Police edged past APF´s pair Sunil Shrestha and Khusi Chaudhary 2-1 in the final held at Barahighat court.
Police made a heroic comeback in the last two 21-16, 15-10 sets after going down 21-19 in the first.
The 44-year old Bharat Shah of Police, who also happens to be the skipper of Nepali national team, was declared man-of-the-match and best player of the tournament. The champion Police won Rs 20,000 and the shield. Runner up APF received Rs 15,000.

Nepal Army Club B, consisting of Deepak Thapa and Keshav Pandey´s pair, defeated APF B´s team of Kailash Bhatta and Mahendra Shrestha in straight sets 21-16, 21-19 for the third place honors. The third place winner Army team a bagged purse of Rs 10,000 and fourth place finisher APF was given Rs 5,000.
Earlier, in the first semifinal played on Wednesday, Police A saw off APF B 21-18, 21-19 and APF A achieved comfortable 21-14, 21-16 win over Army B.
The three-day tournament organized by Nepal Volleyball Association (NVA) featured 16 teams in total.
Meanwhile, the NVA also honored Anil Singh, Devendra KC and Keshab Bhakta Gurung for their contributions to volleyball. Singh is the president of Kaski District Volleyball Association.
