BIRGUNJ, Oct 18: Police have arrested a shaman on the charge of his involvement in raping a child in the pretext of faith healing to cure her disease.
The arrested is Santa Bahadur Thapa Magar, 54, of Thori VDC-1 in Parsa district, according to police.
Mina Giri of a local Paralegal Committee filed a petition saying Santa Bahadur raped the girl, studying in grade six at Nepal Rastriya Secondary School, Bhawanipur, taking her to his room in the pretext of faith healing to cure epilepsy.
Police said that Santa Bahadur admitted that he raped the girl.
The girl is undergoing treatment at Narayani Sub-regional Hospital, Birgunj, and her condition is improving, said the Hospital.
The school urged the body concerned to take stern action against Santa Bahadur.
