SIRAHA, Oct 30: Coming under pressure, Indian side on Tuesday destroyed the pond built by Indian nationals encroaching upon the no-man´s land and private land of Nepali citizens at the bordering Sukhchaina VDC-4 in Saptari.
The pond was destroyed in the presence of Indian Sashastra Seema Bal (Armed Border Force) official HC Chandan Singh, locals of the Araha village and chief of Kamalabari VDC Bhola Yadav.
After locals’ pressure to stop digging the pond, Indian side Monday had agreed to to shelve the project and destroy whatever was built within 24 hours.
A team from the Armed Police Force from Boarder Security Office Siraha had reached the spot after the locals of Sukhchaina informed that Indians had been constructing pond encroaching upon Nepali land.
Sukhchaina VDC lies between middle sized boarders pillar no 265\22 and small size pillar no 265/24. Some of Indian citizens have already dug the pond 50 feet in length and 25 feet in breath and 6 feet deep with the use of excavator machine.
