  SPORTS BRIEFS: KCM, KUMS triumph

KATHMANDU, Nov 5: Kathmandu College of Management (KCM) and Kathmandu University Medical Science (KUMS) won their respective matches on Monday in the First KU Cup T20 Cricket Tournament being held in Dhulikhel.

KCM defeated Nepal Medical College by nine wickets and KUMS overcame Little Angel´s College of Management (LACM) by seven wickets.

NMC opted to bat first and made 119/8. Saugat Devkota scored the highest 27 runs for NMC off 19 deliveries. Santosh Bajgain contributed 20 runs and Devanshu Rana scored 16 runs. Gunjan Poudel of KCM claimed three wickets, while Pratik Lalwani and Sachin Gupta claimed one scalps each.

Chasing the target, Aditya Shrestha hammered 72 off 50 as KCM made 122 runs in 15.1 overs. Gunjan Paudel contributed 17 runs and Asiwir Karki 11 runs. Shrestha was declared man-of-the-match.

In another match, KUMS invited LACM to bat first and restricted it to 99/9 in the allotted overs. In its run chase, Ashutosh Kafle hammered 53 off 35 as KUMS made 101/3 in 13.1 overs. Kafle´s innings included seven fours and a six.

Niroj Thapa contributed 21 runs for the winning team. Earlier, Pranit Sigdel (24), Prabin Gyawali (15) and Munit Pradhan (11) contributed for LACM. Niroj Thapa who claimed three wickets of LACM was declared man-of the-match.

Sachit Pradhan claims South Asian gold

KATHMANDU
: Sachit Pradhan of Nepal claimed gold in the Ninth South Asian Bodybuilding Championship held in Ludhiana, India. Pradhan bagged gold in men´s 60 kg category, according to Dinesh Rajbhandari, the general secretary of Nepal Bodybuilding and Fitness Association. Along with Pradhan, two other Nepali bodybuilders had competed in the event. Mister Himalayan title winner Ram Bahadur Dahal claimed gold in men´s 65 kg category, while Shyam Shrestha finished fourth in men´s 70 kg category.
