REPUBLICA

MAHENDRANAGAR, Nov 5: A policeman has arrested three people allegedly involved in smuggling of tiger parts from a village in Darchula district.

According to the District Police Office of Darchula, constable Gopal Singh Bharati, who is posted at Tinkar police post, single-handedly nabbed Tema Lama, Prem Lama and Ganesh Lothyal on Monday.

While Tema and Prem are tiger parts smugglers, Lothyal was used just as a porter, said the police. Four pieces of tiger skins and bones were also seized from them. “Constable Bharati, by chance, encountered the smugglers on his way and nabbed them,” said DSP Kuber Kadayat.

“They have been brought to Khalanga Tuesday.” Kadayat also said the seized tiger parts were being smuggled to China through Tinkar. However, the source of the seized tiger parts is yet not ascertained, according to Kadayat.
