KATHMANDU, Nov 14: A motorcycle rally was organized by Lyamha Pucha, Satungal to mark the Nepal Sambat New Year 1133 in Kathmandu on Wednesday.
The motorcycle rally started from the Satungal Chowk passed through different parts of the valley.
According to historians, Nepal Sambat calendar was initiated by Shankhadhar Sakhwa. Sakhwa had paid loans of the poor people that they had taken from rich people. The Newar community takes this calendar as being the indigenous calendar of the country which would help promote religious tolerance and social unity.
Nepal Sambat promotes social goodwill: PM
Kathmandu, Nov 14: Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai said that Nepal Sambat has been able to maintain a social goodwill and religious tolerance in the country.
Speaking at a function organized to celebrate the Nepal Sambat New Year 1133, the PM assured of national holiday on the New Year day and implementation of recommendation floated by the Sambat Study Task Force.
