(Updated)
KATHMANDU, Nov 20:
The government forwarded the two-thirds budget to President Ram Baran Yadav for endorsement late Tuesday.

Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, Finance Minister Barshaman Pun and Chief Secretary Lilamani Poudyal reached the president´s office in Shital Niwas to submit the budget to the state head for approval.

Earlier, a cabinet meeting had decided to bring two-thirds budget of Rs 300.064 billion for fiscal year 2012/13. In last July, the government had introduced one-third budget of Rs 161.2b for the running fiscal year.

After the meeting, Minister for Information and Communications Raj Kishor Yadav had informed that the government would forward the budget to the president today itself.

Likewise, the meeting decided to hold new Constituent Assembly elections in mid-April. However, the date of the elections will be determined after holding consultation with political parties, Yadav, who is also government spokesperson, said.

The meeting also decided to extend the tenure of Special Committee for supervision, integration and rehabilitation of Maoist combatants by one month. The committee´s tenure expired on November 14.
