KATHMANDU, Nov 20: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav honoured educationist Dr Suresh Raj Sharma with the Gopal-Kamala Rajbhandari Rotary award, carrying a purse of one million rupees amidst a ceremony here on Tuesday.
The biannual award was instituted by the Rotary International, Nepal and is presented to a person making significant contribution to the technical and business sectors.
On the occasion, the President lauded the contribution of Dr Sharma to the development of country´s education sector and added that the nation has expected more from him in the days ahead.
The President praised the Rotary International for its goal of making the South Asia literate by 2017 AD and wished that it would meet its target.
Rotary International President Takuji Tanaka briefed the Rotary activities on the occasion.
