KATHMANDU, Nov 20: Visiting Kolkata Satya Bharati School from India thrashed Rajan Memorial International School, Kathmandu by 10 wickets in the opening match of the Wai Wai Indo-Nepal U-16 T20 Cricket Tournament on Tuesday.
Rajan Memorial elected to bat but its decision proved to be fatal as Kolkata Satya Bharati bowled them out for just 45 runs in 12.5 overs at the Pulchowk Engineering Ground, Lalitpur. None of the batsmen of Rajan Memorial could resist Kolkata´s bowling attack. Santosh Thapa (nine runs) and Aamir Khan (nine runs) were the highest scorers for the Rajan Memorial. Atul Nirala and Jay Prakash Singh took three wickets each while Akshay Kumar claimed two wickets.
Chasing the low total, Kolkata Satya Bharati reached the target in 5.3 overs without losing a wicket. Ravi Sharma remained unbeaten with 30 runs while Gurutage Singh scored unbeaten 10 runs to seal the victory for the visiting side.
Greenland Children Academy Higher Secondary School has organized the tournament, which features eight Nepali and four Indian school-level teams. It is the first school-level tournament with cash prize in Nepal.
Indian Ambassador for Nepal Jayant Prasad and former president of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN)Binaya Raj Pandey inaugurated the tournament on Tuesday morning.
