KATHMANDU, Nov 28: Former crown prince Paras Shah, who was arrested in Thailand a month ago on charge of possessing illegal drugs, was reportedly found with a woman when the police raided his hotel room.
Bangkok Post and The Phuket News, an online news agency in Thailand, on Wednesday, quoted a senior police officer as saying that Paras had spent a night in jail in Phuket on October 23 on the charge of possessing 3.5 grams of marijuana.
Paras was found with a woman by the police who were called in to settle a quarrel that broke out between the two for some reason. The Thai police have not disclosed the identity of the woman and the cause of quarrel between them.
According the news agency, the woman admitted her crime before the police, but Paras still decided to fight the charge, claiming that the drug didn´t belonged to him.
His passport was taken away by the police and he has since twice appeared before the court to renew his bail, the agency quoted the police. The news site also mentions that Paras has bought an apartment on Phuket and is living with his Thai girlfriend in Bangkok.
Both Nepal and Thai governments, however, have been silent on the issue. The former crown prince was asked to furnish 10,000 baht for his bail.
