KATHMANDU, Nov 29: CPN-UML´s Youth Association Nepal (YAN) is holding its national convention for the purpose of amending the association´s statute.

According to the association, a total of 513 representatives from across the country will participate in the two-day convention to be held in Kathmandu from Friday.

“YAN Chairman Mahesh Basnet will present a political paper during the convention, while Vice-Chairman Hari Bahadur Rai will present a draft of the statute. Another Vice Chairman Dilu Pant will present a paper on current political affairs, General Secretary Niraj Acharya will present the organizational report and Treasurer Niru Pal will present the financial report of the organization," said a statement issued on Thursday.

Chairman Basnet said the organization decided to conduct a separate convention mainly for the purpose of holding policy discussions and making amendments in the association´s statute. A separate convention would be held to elect new leadership of the association, he said.

"This time we decided to hold two separate conventions for policy discussions and election of new leaders," said Basnet. In the past, the association conducted policy discussions, made amendments in the statute and elected new leadership through a single event.
