KATHMANDU, Dec 3: The probe committee formed to investigate into the attack on UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has concluded that party cadre Padam Kunwar had slapped the former at a party function in a fit of rage.
Chairman Dahal was slapped by Kunwar at a tea reception organized by UCPN (Maoist) at Exhibition Road on November 16. The probe committee led by Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Nawaraj Dhakal on Sunday submitted its report to Home secretary Nabin Ghimire.
After receiving the report, Ghimire said, “The report says that the incident was a result of individual frustration and anger.”
The incident was not planned, said a member of the probe committee. “Kunwar does not have a criminal record. Moreover, he did not possess illegal weapons. This proves that he had not planned the attack,” says the report. The committee had also checked Kunwar´s phone call details besides his family background.
The report also suggests the politicians to follow security advisory.
Meanwhile, a committee led by Joint-Secretary Shankar Koirala will soon come up with fresh security plans for VIPs and VVIPs. On the other hand, Nepal Police is preparing to train Personal Security Officers (PSOs) deputed to VIPs and VVIPs.
