ILAM, Dec 3: CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal stressed on holding of new elections in April-May, saying the country will, otherwise, plunge into a major disaster.
Speaking at a program in his home district on Monday, Khanal charged the prime minister with showing double standards and said he should stand down to pave way for consensus.
“The PM says he is ready to relinquish the post for the sake of consensus but, in practice, he keeps clinging on to power, and this has been the real problem,” Khanal said.
Khanal also ruled out any possibility of Maoist leadership in the next government. He further said the country will take a new turn only when it gets its long overdue constitution after the Constituent Assembly elections.
