KATHMANDU, Dec 6: The Federal Democratic Republican Alliance (FDRA), a grouping of ruling parties, on Thursday ruled out the change of guard in government unless outstanding issues are dealt with in a package.
The alliance’s meeting held this morning concluded that the procedure for formation of a new government should start only after making a package deal on issues, including the date of new elections and electoral laws, the strength of new Constituent Assembly and appointments due at constitutional and judicial bodies.
The extended deadline given by the president to the parties to name their common prime ministerial candidate is expiring today at 4 pm. A day earlier, Nepali Congress named its President Sushil Koirala as the party’s PM candidate.
