KATHMANDU: Armed Police Force (APF) Club maintained its winning streak in the Eighth Dhorpatan Blue Sky Cup TVS Women´s Double League Volleyball Tournament until its 11th league match. APF beat Angels´ Heart 25-18, 25-18, 25-9 on Sunday in the tournament organized by Dhorpatan Sports Training Club at Gongabu, Kathmandu. APF is on top of the points table with 32 points. Defending champion Nepal Police Club stands in the second position with 30 points as it thrashed Kavre District Volleyball Association 25-7, 25-12, 25-3 on Sunday. Meanwhile, Fishtail Higher Secondary School, Pokhara defeated Chandeshwari Youth Club, Ramechhap 25-15, 25-14, 25-13 but lost to New Diamond Academy 25-18, 26-24, 20-25, 21-25, 8-15.
3 Nepalis in FINA World Champ´ship KATHMANDU: Nepali swimmers Shirish Gurung, Mirage Prajapati and Shreya Dhital are set to participate in the 11th FINA World Swimming Championship to be held in Istanbul, Turkey from December 12 to 17. Shankar Karki has been appointed as the coach of the Nepali swimmers for the championship. Nepali team will fly to Turkey on Monday. Nepal Swimming Association (NSA) officials and National Sports Council Member Secretary Yuvaraj Lama bade farewell to the Nepali team on Sunday in the capital. NSA General Secretary Jagat Man Shrestha and Vice President Mahesh Maharjan will also fly to Turkey as team leader and team manager respectively.
NNIPA hands over memorandum to NSC KATHMANDU: Nepal National and International Players Association (NNIPA) handed over a memorandum to National Sports Council (NSC) with a seven-point demand on Sunday. NNIPA has asked job guarantee for gold medalists of the South Asian Games (SAG) and a hike in daily allowances of the athletes during mega events like SAG, Asian Games and Olympics. NNIPA has also demanded appointment of athletes with two SAG gold medals in NSC to the post of section officer and appointment of athletes with three or more SAG gold medals to the post of senior officer. NNIPA has also asked NSC to deposit half the money, which NSC charges while providing the Dasharath Stadium for recreational activities, in the Players´ Welfare Fund. NNIPA President Deepak Bista handed the memorandum to NSC Member Secretary Yuvaraj Lama on Sunday.
Kathmandu finishes on top KATHMANDU: Kathmandu District finished on top of the points table in the selection tournament of the Region No 3 Senior Regional played on round robin league format. In its fourth match played on Tuesday at the TU Cricket ground, Kirtipur, Kathmandu crushed Tribhuvan University by 147 runs . With equal two wins and two defeats as that of TU and Bhaktapur, Lalitpur secured second position on the basis of better run rate. Nuwakot finished at the bottom of table with a single win and a point in its kitty
