KATHMANDU, Dec 10: Two groups of UCPN (Maoist) trade unionists each supporting party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Vice-chairman and Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai clashed with each other at the Bagmati Labor Office, Teku, on Monday.
A fight between the two groups ensued following a dispute emerged after cadres supporting Bhattarai reached the office to register a trade union of hotel and restaurant workers. The fight escalated after cadres supporting Dahal stopped them questioning the ´authenticity´ of the new association.
Ratan Nagarkoti, Mukunda Pant, Prem Bolkhele from the Dahal group and Bikram Rai and Maniram Thapa from the Bhattarai group were injured in the mishap, Raju Baduwal, a trade unionist belonging to the Bhattarai camp said. The injured have been taken to hospital for medical treatment.
