KATHMANDU, Dec. 10: The Teachers´ Service Commission is preparing to advertise vacancies for schoolteachers by this December--for the first time in 17 years.
The Commission is making preparation to that end after the government paved the way for it by amending the Education Act on December 2.
Commission Chairman Udayraj Soti told RSS that they were preparing to advertise teachers´ posts through open competition after the Ministry of Education forwarded a letter to announce vacancies for the posts that remained vacant since April 24, 2006.
The Commission has expressed confidence that its decision would relieve the fresh graduates and temporary teachers that are long awaiting for vacancy announcement for the teachers´ posts.
As per the amended regulations, the temporary teachers would not be barred from competing for the permanent post due to their age limit for a single chance.
Soti said that the all 75 District Education Offices have been asked to furnish the details of vacant posts of teachers from the districts concerned immediately.
Even the Commission is not aware of the total number of vacant posts for teachers till date
