KATHMANDU, Dec. 11: The ´hello government´ program initiated by the Government more than a year ago, to respond to the problems facing the general public, has so far received 17,734 complaints.

Of them 9,655 were dealt with leading to resolution of 54.55 per cent of them, said Krishna Hari Banskota, Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, while releasing annual report on the program here on Monday.

The highest number of complaints received at the hello government initiative was related to the Home Ministry including 3,243 of such complaints. The Home Ministry is followed by the Education Ministry and the Ministry of Physical Planning, Works and Transport.

Lack of access to daily consumable goods, inefficient functioning of government bodies, rise in corruption, irregularities in public transport and increasing market price were the most pressing problems of the people.

Also of concern to the people were matters relating to the ongoing dialogue among political parties and the efforts being made for a national consensus, Banskota said.

Under the programme initiated by Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai, people can register their complaints through toll free number 1111, fax number 1100, or by sending an email via 1111@opmcm.gov.np or an SMS to 1111.
