  Two children crushed to death

KAMAL THAPA

RUKUM, Dec 13: Two physically challenged children in Khalanga, headquarters of Rukum district, died Wednesday morning after being crushed under heavy sacs of rice inside a local grocery shop.

The deceased, who were brothers in relation, have been identified as Manish Badi, 10, and Akash Badi, 7. Both were suffering from paralysis since birth.

They were unable to move their body parts below the hip. None of the family members, including their father Jay Bahadur Badi and mother Manju, were around when the accident occurred. The children breathed their last as they were being rushed to Rukum District Hospital.

As they didn´t have sufficient space in their rented room, Jay and his sons had been sleeping in their shop. Jay´s other three daughters also have similar physical problems. The family had not been able to treat the children in lack of money.

They set up the grocery shop with the financial support received from media personalities of the district.
