  Major parties meet likely in evening

KATHMANDU, Dec. 17: UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal CPN (UML) senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula held a meeting Monday and discussed the present political situation in the country.

During the meeting that took place at Dahal´s residence in Lazimpat, the leaders are learnt to have held discussion so that consensus could be forged by this evening, when the fourth deadline given by the president expires.

Also chiefs of major political parties are likely to sit for a decisive meeting for consensus this evening for Dahal´s aide Shiva Khakurel said.

The meeting focused on a range of issues relating to the formation of national unity government, necessary amendments to the electoral laws, pending appointments at the constitutional bodies and setting up of truth and reconciliation commission.

The leaders are also learnt to have discussed whether to request for yet another deadline extension in case they fail to reach a conclusion by this evening.
