KATHMANDU, Dec. 19: An expanded meeting of the central office-bearers of the UCPN (Maoist) held on Wednesday has decided to firmly continue the efforts and initiatives for national consensus.
The meeting held at the residence of party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ´Prachanda´ decided to expedite the bid for consensus from the party´s side.
Party spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota said, "The responsibility given to the office-bearers earlier is smoothly moving ahead. That responsibility should be taken to a conclusion by firmly working."
The earlier meeting of the central office-bearers of the UCPN (Maoist) had given full authority to the top leaders to forge consensus in the latest political issue.
Sapkota said that all parties should give momentum to the consensus as elections to the Constituent Assembly (CA) were not likely in mid-May of 2013 until the parties forged consensus.
Sapkota said, "CA elections should be done at any cost by mid-May. Party´s initiative for this end is appropriate. This is party´s decision," Sapkota added.
The UCPN (Maoist) meeting also reviewed the formal and informal meetings held among the political parties for national consensus.
Asked was Prime Minister and party Vice-chairman Dr Baburam Bhattarai reluctant for consensus, the UCPN (Maoist) spokesperson added that all should abide by the party decision as the party has decided to take initiative for national consensus.
