Women's group demands probe into Saraswati's death

KATHMANDU, Dec 24: Women Security Pressure Group on Monday has demanded a high-level probe into the mysterious death of Saraswati Subedi, 31, who was found dead on Dec 16 at a house at Anamnagar.
A team of women activists led by Sarada Pokhrel, president of the group, met Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachadhhadar and demanded a high-level investigation into the case and punishment for the guilty.
Receiving a memorandum from the group, Gachchhadar assured investigation and promised to bring those guilty to book. "Though crime rate across the country has been declining in recent months, crimes against women have increased."
The Group has also warned of launching street protest if the case is not investigated with priority and evidences destroyed.
Meanwhile, All Nepal Women´s Association has also condemned recurring violence against women and requested the government to probe the case including Siwa Hasami´s death and rape of women while returning from Saudi Arabia.
