KATHMANDU, Dec 26: The Directorate of Animal Health (DoAH) Wednesday confirmed the bird flu virus in a poultry farm owned by Surya Mohan Pokharel in Ramkot VDC in Kathmandu.
The farm lies some 50 meters from the hatchery owned by Subirman Singh Basnet where bird flu virus was detected and subsequently some 19,000 eggs were destroyed, a day earlier.
According to Narayan Prasad Ghimire, senior veterinarian at DoAH, around 3,000 chickens were found to have been infected by the virus in Pokharel’s poultry farm.
