RSS

KATHMANDU, Dec. 26: The Election Commission (EC) invited 57 political parties registered at the Commission for deliberations on the draft Ordinance designed to amend and integrate the legislation relating to political parties.

This was the second group of 57 political parties invited for discussion. The Commission had invited another 57 in the first round last Monday. A total of 114 parties are presently registered at the Commission.

The Commission has been collecting feedback of the political parties on the amendments it is about to introduce on the legislation concerning political parties.

The draft aims to bring changes concerning inclusive structure, internal democracy, institutional development, and transparent and accountable functioning of the political parties.

It also incorporates various aspects of formation of political parties, registration of parties, qualification of a parliamentary party, dissolution and fiscal transparency.
