KATHMANDU, Dec. 27: Customers´ attraction towards footwear and other leather goods manufactured in the country is on rise.
A large number of people have been thronging the Nepali Footwear Exhibition organized at City Hall in the capital from December 24.
According to Homnath Upadhyay, president of Leather Footwear and Goods Manufacturers´ Association Nepal, some 40,000 people have visited the expo. He said 15,000 pairs of shoes were sold.
People came to the expo to buy leather shoes, bags, jackets and belt as well as Nepali brand leather goods manufactured using modern technology.
A total of 207 million pairs of footwear is produced in the country annually.
Upadhyay said such expo is organised every year to compete in quality among entrepreneurs and to encourage Nepali labour and skill.
