SURKHET, Dec 28: At least 13 people have been killed when a passenger bus skidded off the road at Dasharathpur VDC-6 here in the district on Friday morning.
According to Biswa Niranjan Pradhan, SP at Surkhet District Police Office, 19 others are injured in the accident. Among them five are reported as seriously injured. All the injured have been sent to district headquarters Birendranagar for the treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Chanda Kala Raut of Kalyan VDC-8, Prajawal Shris, 12, and Keshar Shris, 34, of Gumi VDC-4, Yaman Nidul of Sadakhani VDC, Man Bahadur Gal of Dasharathpur-7, Deepa Dhakal, 11, of Dasharathpur-5, Mamata Khadka, 10, of Dasharathpur-4, Ram Ranabhat, 41, of Bharatpur, Chitwan, Gajendra Gurung of Gumi-5, Kumar Paudel-29 of Dasharathpur-5, Tarka B.K. of Chauratha, Dailekh, Gandhi Sunar and Arjun Sunar.
The ill-fated bus (Ba 2 Kha 5741) had veered off some 50 meters from the road at around 8:45 this morning. The bus was heading to Birendranagar from Gumi VDC when the accident took place.
