KATHMANDU, Jan 2: Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI) on Wednesday raided Pacific Traders, which has been working as an agent of different foreign channels and distributing them to various cable operators, and took its transaction records under control on suspicion of tax evasion.
The DRI has announced that it carried out the raid based on complaint against the firm. The department has taken two laptops, one CPU, contract documents signed with local cable operators and sales register, among others, under its control for further investigation.
“We were informed that the company has evaded value added tax (VAT) and income tax. But we are yet to go through its documents to confirm the charges,” said a DRI official.
Issuing a press statement, DRI said it will start detailed investigation against Pacific Traders on Thursday.
