JAJARKOT, Jan 2: The locals on Wednesday shut down Khalanga bazaar of Jajarkot protesting the demolition of huts that were erected on forest land.
On Tuesday, the District Forest Office of Jajarkot, with help from the local police administration, had demolished nine huts built on Thaplechaur of Khalanga.
Backed by the CPN-Maoist, the people whose huts were demolished took out a rally in Khalanga, accusing the government of trying to displace the poor.
However, Bhim Prasad Poudel, acting chief of District Forest Office of Jajarkot, said that the campaign to demolish illegally built structures on forest land would continue.
