BUTWAL, Jan 4: Normal life in three Terai-based districts – Rupandehi, Nawalparasi and Kapilvastu – has been affected due to shutdown enforced by CPN-Maoist Abadh State Committee on Friday in protest of the murder of its member Shailesh Tiwari in police custody.
Due to the effect of shutdown, long and short route vehicles are not plying here since early this morning.
Maoist cadres had taken to steer to enforce shutdown since 6.00 am this morning. Bering gathered in various parts of Butwal bazaar, they have been disrupting the vehicular movement.
The enforcers vandalized and caused damages to a truck (Lu 1 Kha 7531) in Butwal this morning.
Passengers have been stranded for the vehicular movement brought to standstill. Likewise, market, educational institutions, industry, factories are also hit hard by strike.
The Maoist had mad public the struggle programme on Thursday in protest of the murder of its cadre.
However, Rupandehi police claimed that Tiwari, 35, of Rupandehi Farena died in the jail due to high blood pressure.
