NSC to form School Sports Development Board

REPUBLICA

KATHMANDU, Jan 6: National Sports Council decided to form School Sports Development Board (SSDB) under it.
The NSC board meeting chaired by its patron Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai approved the working procedure of SSDB on Sunday. As per the working procedure, NSC members-secretary will chair the SSDB.

"There will be representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Education, Private and Boarding School Organization Nepal (PABSON), National PABSON, Higher Secondary Schools Association Nepal (HISSAN) and experts as well as representatives of other concerned agencies in the SSDB," informed NSC Member Secretary Yuvaraj Lama. "We´ll soon complete all the procedures for forming the SSDB and it will decide about organizing National School Games," Lama added.

Meanwhile, the board meeting decided to hike the allowances of athletes during their international participation. "Earlier, NSC used to provide around $20 per day to an athlete during their international participation in events like South Asian Games, Asian Games and Olympics. Now onward, we´ll provide $50 per day if NSC bears all accommodation expenditure and $150 per day if individual athlete bears his/her accommodation expenditure," said Lama.

Likewise, NSC decided to provide ID cards to all volunteer coaches working under NSC. "Earlier, we didn´t have the exact data on volunteer coaches and they were not recognized properly. Providing ID cards to them is the first step toward recognizing them," said Lama.
