KATHMANDU, Jan 18: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is increasing load shedding hours to 14 hours per day with effect from Saturday.
NEA had to increase the load shedding hours after India cut power supply to Nepal by around 25 megawatts without prior notification, Bhuwan Kumar Chhetri, chief of system operation department at the NEA, said.
India had promised to provide additional 55 megawatts for this winter.
Nepal was importing around 115 MW from India and was expecting additional 55 MW as agreed during the visit to India by President Ram Baran Yadav in December last year.
