REPUBLICA

KATHMANDU: Nepal has confirmed at least a bronze medal in the Second South Asian Basketball Championship following its second win on Sunday in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

In its last match, Nepal thumped Bhutan 94-42 with 32 points each from skipper Sadish Pradhan and Binod Maharjan. It was also the highest-margin victory registered by any team in the ongoing tournament.

The score was tied at 20-20 in the first quarter but Nepal easily took control in the remaining quarters to take them 25-7, 25-9, 24-6 en route to a huge win.

Of the four matches it played in the tournament, Nepal won two and lost two. Nepal had defeated the Maldives 82-57 in its first match but lost 81-74 against Bangladesh and 78-67 against Pakistan in the other matches.
